My mother, Marilène Coolens, always made sure we were expressing ourselves as children, she made us dance, dress up and invent our own plays. Mostly a kid will pick up on that what is given.
So our collaboration was not really a choice, it was a natural thing that just happened and luckily continues up till now.In some way my childhood photographic memories exists of these images, of semi-staged moments where Marilène was the photographer who handled the scenery and the light as well and where I had all freedom and got be to any character desired
The essence of what we still do now is to be found in our ‘Analogue Archives’ that spread over ten years worth of images made in the nineties, rough and honest within its imperfection.
